Save the Frogs!
Frogs are in trouble! One third to one half of all amphibian species are threatened with extinction, with probably more than one hundred and twenty species already gone.
It is necessary to act quickly to attempt to save these precious amphibians, not only to protect the hundreds (possibly thousands) of species from extinction, but also to preserve the delicate ecosystems of which they are a significant part.
To that end, 2008 has been deemed ‘The Year of the Frog’, with zoos and aquariums worldwide joining the fight to save these animals.
The Edmonton Valley Zoo is proud to be one such zoo, and we are thrilled to be welcoming some endangered frogs into our ‘protective custody’.
